“One Day,” a retooled version of cult 1999 teen musical “Inappropriate,” will play New York in a new multimedia production from Big Block Entertainment — which produced the musical “Heathers” — and Carl Levin (“Rock of Ages”).

The musical, which premiered Off Broadway as “Inappropriate” in 1999, follows eight teens grappling with the perils and rewards of adolescence. Composer-lyricist and book writer Michael Sottile has since updated the show, based on real-life journal entries, to incorporate the realities of contemporary teen life, particularly new technology. Sottile co-directs the new incarnation with choreographer Ray Leeper (“So You Think You Can Dance”), his collaborator in an earlier workshop staging of the retooled show in November of last year.

The New York production will run at tech-savvy downtown venue 3LD, with interactive projection design by Andrew Lazarow (“I Am Harvey Milk,” the upcoming “Brooklynite”).

Big Block Entertainment/Scott Prisand & Jamie Bendell earned strong notices and good buzz for the Off Broadway staging of the musical version of “Heathers,” which ran for about five months earlier this year and spurred talk of a potential Broadway transfer. The producing team of “One Day” includes Levin, Bendell, Scott & Marnie Prisand, Bruce Bendell, Sheryl Regan, Tom Ross, Whistling Mario Prods., Scott Benson and Big Block Entertainment.

“One Day” plays 3LD in a run that starts previews Feb. 7 prior to a Feb. 19 opening.
